ROSEBURG, Ore. (May 15, 2026) — Grey Ferrando put together a commanding performance in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature at the Douglas County Dirtrack, collecting his third DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region victory of the season in the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win main event and his first triumph of 2026 at the Roseburg 3/10-mile oval.

Brett Muth led the opening lap before a caution quickly slowed the pace. On the restart, Ferrando charged from fourth and was battling for the lead within a couple of circuits. By lap three, the 2017 Cottage Grove Speedway champion had officially taken command.

Another caution on lap four reset the field, but Ferrando was flawless on the restart and immediately began pulling away from the competition. The 2024 Cocopah Speedway track champion maintained a sizable advantage even after encountering lapped traffic on lap 16 and was never seriously challenged the rest of the way.

Late in the race, 2019 DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region champion Bricen James moved into second after a spirited battle with reigning National Rookie of the Year Ethan Killingsworth of California. James, the 2024 track champion, secured the runner-up position on lap 21.

Scio’s Ferrando, who started fifth, drove away to secure the victory. The race served as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier for the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, but Ferrando was already on the eligibility list after qualifier wins the previous two weeks at Southern Oregon Speedway.

James, aboard the Schram Motorsports-owned No. 13, finished second and earned hard charger honors after advancing from seventh. Killingsworth settled for third, while Muth held off multi-time IMCA Wild West Speedweek champion Jesse Williamson in the SDMF Customs house car for fourth at the line.

Ashley Holds Off Late Charge for SportMod Victory

Ricky Ashley survived multiple restarts and a late-race challenge to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature, scoring his first win of the season in the 25-lap finale.

Ashley, driving the T.R. Points Trucking-owned No. 8511, grabbed the lead at the drop of the green and immediately came under pressure from 17-year-old Jordan Stevens. Despite the persistent challenge, Ashley maintained control during the extended green-flag run.

As the race developed, 2024 track champion Jordan Henry charged into second before cautions on laps 12, 15, and 22 repeatedly tightened the field. Each time, Ashley executed strong restarts to remain out front.

In the closing laps, Chad Knee mounted a serious charge for the lead, but Ashley stayed composed and beat him to the checkered flag.

The Thurston driver secured the victory ahead of Knee and Henry. Two-time defending Oregon State champion Trevor Points finished fourth, while 17-year-old Vinny DeBenedetti rounded out the top five one week after his Cottage Grove Speedway victory.

Steve Dubisar was triumphant in the Street Stocks while Chuck Jacobs won the Old Time Races of Oregon Hardtop main event.
